Super Moon, Super Consciousness…©

As a lot of you may already know, we are about to experience a full moon, labeled a Super Moon.

This March (Super) Full Moon takes place in the astrology sign of Virgo on:

Sydney – March 20 @ 5.10am AEDT
Auckland – March 20 @ 7.10am NZST
New York – March 19 @ 2.10pm EDT
London – March 19 @ 6.10pm GMT

  • What is a Super Moon?

A Super Moon is any New or Full Moon, that is very close to the Earth. In fact, they can occur 4 – 6 times per year. This Super Moon is the second of 2011, and will be the closest to the Earth of the two.

Super Moons are known to be generally be aligned with the world’s great storms, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

And they are noteworthy for their close association with extreme tidal forces.

This March Full Moon will pass by Earth at a distance of 356,577 kilometers (221,567 miles) – the closest pass in 18 years. It has been coined as an extreme Super Moon.

It also heralds a bold astrological New Year, and occurs the day before the Spring/Autumnal Equinox.

I don’t know about you, but today, in the count down to the Full Moon, I have become aware of a shift in my consciousness. Only in small ways, but they’re all very significant in their own right.

For example, today I realised how over the months my priorities have been changing – I have been questioning what I spend my money on, what I do with my time, who I associate with, and so on.

I am finding more joy in spending my money on things that ultimately make my soul more at peace – instead of spending all my hard-earned pay each week on materialistic waste, I have focused on paying for my Yoga Teacher Training, buying super foods for my health, investing in Yoga workshops/master classes, books, music for my yoga practice, etc. It is amazing how rewarding and satisfying this is.

Although I have always been quite disciplined with my spending, I really think twice, three times, about buying clothing. And I’m not going to lie, of course being female I love fashion. But my clothing purchases have become even more conscious choices – organic cotton tops, and organic denim are high on the list. And the purchases are far less frequent than they were 12 months ago.

Today, my yoga practice went to a new level. Whilst laying in Savasana, or Corpse Pose, I spontaneously led myself through a Chakra meditation, and experienced energy throughout my body in new ways. And funnily enough, a fellow yogi, known as Madonna, supplied me with the soundtrack for my practice – another spontaneous choice!

  • The Chakras…

To find out more about Chakras, please see my beautiful friend, Rebecca Flynn’s blog and Facebook page – called The Chakra Collective. Bec is one super intelligent, passionate, inspiring and knowledgable friend. She has recently posted a beautiful prayer for those in Japan.

There have certainly been some devastating events happen over the recent days, weeks and months. Please consider this powerful Super Moon a time to send out blessings of peace, love and healing to those in need. If you practice Yoga, maybe dedicate your practice to the victims of the recent disasters of this planet, Earth.

Wishing you a super weekend!

Much love and light,

What I wear…

My whole life I have been an active person. I started dancing at age 3, and continued to travel the globe working as a professional dancer.

Over recent years I came to gain a huge passion for all things health, fitness and (particularly) yoga related. I became a certified fitness instructor, personal trainer and Zumba! Instructor.

Now the next, and seemingly most important, step is to obtain my Level 1 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification.

Yoga is the most rewarding exercise I have ever experienced. It caters for all ages, body types and abilities. It brings ones body back into a balanced state, working both strength and flexibility. Yoga calms the mind and the central nervous system.

And surprisingly to some, yoga can really get your heart rate up, and work up a sweat – even without a heated room (i.e Bikram Yoga).

A lot of people over the years have asked me what clothing, or attire, I prefer to wear when dancing, instructing, and soothing my soul with yoga. And believe me, I have tried many different brands, different fabrics and styles.

Enter, the Australian brand Abi & Joseph.

The first thing that drew me to Abi & Joseph was their range of pants in different lengths.. yes that’s right… go for the regular if your petite or average in height. But if you’re tall, they can cater for you with their “tall girl/long legs” gorgeous pants. My favourite is the Slim Fit style in the colour “Kohl” – a nice change from the usual black!

Another style of pant to note is the classic legging in a 4/5 length – perfect for Yoga, Pilates, walks, or for simply lounging around!

And for the top half, I have fallen in love with the Supplex Mesh Tank Top – with crossed straps at the back in the most divine colour tones. Again, my favourite being the Lilac. This top has been made with a built-in shelf bra for added support. And the mesh enables to fabric to breathe – perfect for when you get hot and sweaty!

Lastly, I have to mention the incredibly gorgeous, and unbelievably useful, non-slip socks. Have you ever tried Yoga or Pilates, only to get frustrated slipping around on your mat? P.s: Check out the gorgeous graphic on the soles!
